Coordinated Animal Response in Emergencies Workshops
CARE is an operations-focused workshop preparing participants to manage animal response during emergencies through scenario-based learning, coordination strategies, and technology tools.

Workshops are:
50% Hands-on Field Exercises: Participants will simulate hotline operations, data entry, dispatching, and debriefing.
25% Lecture Series: Covers best practices, lessons learned from deployments, and optimized Shelterly usage.
25% Round-table/Q&A: Focused on interoperability, practical use cases, and getting to know each other and local agencies.

Animal Control Officers
Animal Shelter Staff & Field Teams
Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT)
Community Animal Response Teams (CART)
Emergency Managers and Teams
Disaster Response Coordinators
Public Safety or Animal Services Personnel

Thank you Nevada County Sheriff's HEART for hosting the Shelterly team and volunteers from agencies including, North Valley Animal Disaster Group, California Veterinary Emergency Team - CVET, Sclar Large Animal Emergency Evacuation, and Central California Animal Disaster Team on Saturday, Aug 23 and Sunday, Aug 24, 2025.

CARE WORKSHOP: Sonoma County
June 24 and 25, 2025
Shelterly presented our first Coordinated Animal Response in Emergencies (CARE) Workshop in Sonoma County, thanks to a generous donation from Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch.

More than forty people joined a full day of training, including a table top exercise, at Shone Farms including Sonoma CART, North Valley Animal Disaster Group, Napa Community Animal Response Team - Napa CART, Nevada County Sheriff's HEART,Sclar Large Animal Emergency Evacuation, Halter Project, Nevada County Animal Control, Humboldt CART, Nevada County Veterinary Disaster Response Team, San Mateo County Large Animal Evacuation Group Smclaeg, Solano Community Animal Response Team - Solano CART, Humane Society Silicon Valley and Sonoma County Animal Services.
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Amber Bowen for hosting (and for all that she does for so many people and animals), Criminal Baking & Catering Company for providing delicious vegan cookies, and Amy's Drive Thru for generously donating our delicious vegan meals, treats and drinks.
