Preregistration
Preregistration is now available to use before a disaster or emergency happens, strengthening readiness for communities and county agencies supporting more efficient and effective response.
Preregistration supports the work responders already do by making key information available earlier in the process.
It strengthens coordination, improves continuity of information from pre-registration through evacuation, shelter-in-place and reunification, reducing the amount of information needed from the start of an incident.
The preregistration portal supports organizations, working with community members to create a pet profile ahead of time, so essential details are already in place if an evacuation or incident occurs, including owner contact information, pet photos, and care notes such as medical needs, feeding instructions, behavior considerations, and special needs.

Strengthens Training and Planning Using Real Local Data - Tabletop exercises can be designed around actual animal distribution patterns and species in the jurisdiction. Staffing and role-based training can include call handling, shelter ops, and field coordination workflows, reinforcing speed and accuracy under pressure before a disaster occurs.

Facilitates Reunification, Reducing Displacement Length and Supporting Response Goals - When animals are sheltered during a disaster, information and photos already entered through preregistration are available in Shelterly. Integration with public animal pages and PetCo Love Lost automates lost and found matching, accelerating reunification.
